Base Data, Base Data Model
Base data refers to the fundamental information or material collected and analyzed before starting a project, design task, or decision-making process. These data form the foundation on which project goals are defined and plans are developed. In construction projects, for example, base data may include existing drawings, soil surveys, environmental reports, and other documentation that influence design decisions.
Thorough collection and analysis of base data are critical to project success. Incomplete or incorrect data can lead to design errors, delays, and cost overruns. It is therefore essential to clearly define at the start of a project what data is needed, where it comes from, and how its accuracy and validity will be ensured. This process often involves close cooperation among stakeholders such as clients, designers, and regulatory authorities.
