Scan-to-BIM

Scan-to-BIM is a process in which reality capture data, typically point clouds generated by laser scanning or photogrammetry, is converted into a structured Building Information Model (BIM). The resulting model represents existing conditions in a form that can be used for design, engineering, renovation and facility management.

Scan-to-BIM is especially valuable in brownfield environments and retrofit projects, where up-to-date design documentation is often incomplete or outdated. By turning measured reality into a usable BIM model, the process improves planning accuracy, reduces rework and supports better coordination between stakeholders.
