Attribute data
Attribute data refers to descriptive or technical information linked to specific objects or elements within a dataset, model, or system. In the context of 3D modelling, BIM (Building Information Modelling), and asset management, attribute data enriches geometric representations with contextual details.
For instance, a pipe element in a digital building model may carry attribute data such as material type, manufacturer, internal diameter, installation date, and maintenance history. In geospatial systems, attribute data could include land use classification, ownership, or soil type associated with mapped areas.
This metadata allows for more advanced filtering, querying, and automation. It enhances analytical capabilities, supports informed decision-making, and enables lifecycle tracking of assets across disciplines such as construction, infrastructure, and industrial maintenance.
