ATEX Zone

An ATEX zone refers to an area with potentially explosive atmospheres, such as environments with flammable gases, vapours or dust. “ATEX” is derived from the French Atmosphères Explosibles and relates to EU directives that regulate the safety of equipment and protective systems used in such environments.

The ATEX directives ensure safe operation and minimise explosion risks through equipment standards and work practices.
