Challenge
A new boiler hall needed to be seamlessly integrated with the existing plant, requiring exceptionally accurate data for planning. A complete 3D measurement of the facility was necessary via laser scanning to minimise time-consuming site measurements during construction.
Delivered Solution
SolidComp performed indoor laser scanning and drone imaging of the entire plant area. The collected data was then combined into a unified 3D model within the Reality Twin platform. This allowed the design process to proceed efficiently and reliably. As the project progressed, the model was updated with additional scans – for example, new pipeline routes and connection points were made available to the design team.
Reality Twin provides a single, always up-to-date platform that supports virtual collaboration, remote meetings and faster decision-making throughout the construction phase.
Results
- The number of site visits was significantly reduced, easing the workload on the ground.
- Communication between design and implementation improved, and the project is progressing on schedule.
- Each scanned phase of construction is saved in Reality Twin, creating As Built documentation for future maintenance and development.
