Advancing Digital Twin Technologies for a Resilient Europe
The project’s mission is to develop an advanced framework that enables efficient, automated engineering and continuous validation of digital twins across complex industrial systems. By integrating model-based, data-driven and cloud-native technologies, MATISSE aims to help companies reduce time-to-value, improve system quality and gain operational insights through simulation, monitoring and predictive capabilities.
SolidComp Works to Define Industrial Requirements
As a Finnish technology expert specialising in reality modelling and industrial digitalisation, SolidComp plays an important role in the project consortium. Earlier this year, SolidComp led the creation of the Industrial Requirements Specification, a foundational document that captures the real-world needs of manufacturing environments to guide the MATISSE framework’s architecture and use cases. This highlighted SolidComp’s practical expertise in translating industrial complexity into actionable digital strategies. In this task, SolidComp collaborated closely with Siemens and gathered requirements from the entire consortium, including insights from companies like Alstom.
Driving Innovation in Predictive Maintenance
In the Finnish use case, SolidComp is actively researching predictive maintenance in the forest and mechanical engineering industries by leveraging artificial intelligence and integrating this data into digital twins. This approach aims to enhance maintenance strategies, reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency in these critical sectors.
Engaging in Collaborative Development in Rome
Most recently, SolidComp’s CTO and co-founder Tuomas Korhonen represented the company at the MATISSE transnational partner meeting in Rome. Hosted at Industrie Fluviali in March 2025, the three-day event gathered representatives from across Europe to advance joint development work, deepen collaboration and align technological goals across use cases. The meeting also provided an excellent platform for networking and exploring future partnerships.

Commitment to Next-Generation Digital Twin Solutions
Participation in MATISSE marks a significant step in SolidComp’s mission to build next-generation digital twin solutions that are accurate, secure and scalable. The project also reinforces SolidComp’s commitment to European cooperation and its contribution to shaping the future of intelligent, autonomous industrial systems.
A Diverse Consortium for a Competitive Europe
The MATISSE consortium includes a wide range of partners from various sectors, such as space technology, energy and infrastructure. This diversity ensures that the developed digital twin technologies are applicable across multiple industries, enhancing Europe’s industrial competitiveness. By fostering collaboration among these sectors, MATISSE aims to drive innovation and resilience in the European economy.
SolidComp’s involvement in MATISSE underscores its dedication to developing technologies that bolster Europe’s industrial and economic future. By contributing to the creation of advanced digital twin solutions, SolidComp aims to equip European industries with the tools necessary to remain competitive on a global scale.
