SolidComp building new partnerships in Sweden

SolidComp’s international expansion is focused on Sweden, where our first project was completed in 2024. We also established new connections in Northern Sweden during the International Call trade promotion trip in January 2025.

The International Call trade promotion trip from January 15-17, 2025, organized by Savon Yrittäjät, provided Finnish companies with a unique opportunity to build new connections in the Swedish market. Over 40 companies from Savo and Northern Finland participated, including SolidComp and its European Sales Director, Nikolas Ruotsalainen.

Northern Sweden’s investments open opportunities for Finnish companies

Northern Sweden, particularly the regions of Norrbotten and Västerbotten, is undergoing an industrial transformation, with investments totaling up to 120 billion euros in clean energy and green transition projects. Major industry players in the region include SSAB, LKAB, Stegra, and the Port of Luleå, all investing in hydrogen technology, emission-free steel production, and sustainable infrastructure.

“These investments offer excellent opportunities for Finnish companies to participate in the development of the region’s industry. SolidComp has the expertise and technological know-how to contribute to industrial solutions, digitalization, and the advancement of the green transition,” says Ruotsalainen.

New connections and industry insights

During the trip, we had the opportunity to visit SSAB’s steel plants in Luleå and Stegra, LKAB’s mining project, and the Port of Luleå, which is being expanded to four times its current capacity to meet the region’s growing needs.

“The Northern Sweden market is vast and offers many opportunities for Finnish companies, especially in the technology sector,” Ruotsalainen notes.

He sees that SolidComp now has a chance to influence regional development through collaboration with local players.

The ongoing investments are also increasing the demand for a skilled workforce. “The need for labor is immense. SolidComp can help alleviate this demand by optimizing the utilization of the existing workforce,” Ruotsalainen explains.

Supporting the internationalisation of Finnish companies

During the trip, Ruotsalainen and the Finnish delegation also met with the Governor of Norrbotten, Lotta Finstorp, and Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio, who was there to support the internationalization of Finnish businesses.

We at SolidComp would like to extend our warmest thanks to Finland’s Ambassador to Sweden, Maimo Henriksson, and Business Finland’s Regional Manager for Northern Sweden, Sabrina Suikki, for their valuable support and collaboration, which enabled our successful visit.

We also appreciate the efforts of Savon Yrittäjät’s International Call program and Business Finland in organizing the trip. “The journey was highly beneficial and insightful for us,” Ruotsalainen says. “SolidComp will continue working to strengthen its collaboration in Northern Sweden.”
