In our new customer success story video, Niko Brofors, Engineering Manager at MM Kotkamills, and Sandor Nagy, CEO of SolidComp, discuss how accurate scan-based data and the Reality Twin platform have supported plant modelling, project planning, communication and day-to-day development. The story shows how digitalisation has been turned into a practical advantage in a complex industrial environment.
Turning Digitalisation into Practical Value
At MM Kotkamills, the key challenge was not the lack of data, but how to make existing and newly created data usable across projects and daily operations. Historically, information was fragmented; stored in different formats, systems and project silos, making it difficult to access, share and reuse efficiently.
The goal was to move from project-based data use to a continuous, reliable and accessible foundation for development. This required both accurate baseline data and new ways to manage and utilise it.
The collaboration with SolidComp enabled a systematic approach: high-quality laser scanning tied to a consistent coordinate system, combined with a visual digital environment where data can be accessed and shared easily. Over time, this has allowed MM Kotkamills to integrate data into everyday workflows, from planning and decision-making to communication between teams and stakeholders.
Today, digitalisation at MM Kotkamills is not a separate initiative, but a practical part of how the factory is developed and operated.
