In June 2025, SolidComp was awarded the Ekokompassi environmental certificate. As part of our continuous improvement goals, one of the identified tasks within our environmental responsibility efforts was communication.
At SolidComp, we believe that responsibility must be visible to be credible. We see transparent communication as a fundamental part of environmental responsibility—because if it isn’t documented or spoken about, who knows if they even exist.
In corporate responsibility, communication is essential. Open and honest communication gives sustainability efforts weight. It also ensures we stay accountable to our goals. At the same time, it allows a company to gain full value from its environmental work: not just in energy savings or biodiversity protection, but in customer trust and the ability for clients to say they are working with a responsible partner.
Communication is part of corporate transparency
Communication makes our actions visible, verifiable and traceable. Increasingly, stakeholders expect not just responsible conduct but openness about that conduct. At SolidComp, we can provide documentation of our environmental impact upon request, for example, in customer projects or competitive tenders.
But there’s more to it. Trust is built through clear, consistent, and truthful messaging. We see this as a positive challenge, an opportunity to build stronger relationships and reinforce the integrity of what we do.
We also communicate about our efforts out in the open for all to see and read, through blogs, social media, newsletters and our website. This helps others to understand not just what we’re doing, but why and how. At the same time, we expose ourselves to potential scrutiny, as we inherently can’t control who will take an interest in our sustainability communication. This ongoing and open communication ensures that our words match our actions.
Every action sends a message
Let’s say a company saves energy and announces it. Would that be enough? Not quite. Even the smallest everyday actions say a great deal about how companies intend to live up to their environmental policies and values.
We need to be accountable. Yes, we help customers reduce their environmental impact through digital tools and 3D modelling, but we also pay attention to our own routines. Do we idle the company car unnecessarily? Do we follow everyday safety guidelines? Do we speak about sustainability with the seriousness it deserves? All company actions, large and small, must align with the values they claim to uphold.
Aligning words and actions internally
Communication also shapes internal culture. When our people understand our sustainability values and goals, they’re empowered to make informed, responsible decisions every day. Internal clarity drives motivation, consistency and shared direction. It ensures we are aligned, not just in our actions, but in how we talk about them.
At SolidComp, we’re creating a workplace where sustainable thinking is embedded in every role, every conversation and every line of code.
Communication is dialogue, not monologue
Responsible communication means listening, too. It invites feedback, encourages discussion and builds a culture of ongoing improvement. All our employees are trained to receive and pass on feedback, including feedback about our sustainability efforts.
Stakeholder expectations change, and so must we. But sustainable growth requires open dialogue, where customers, partners and colleagues all feel heard.
Visibility creates transparency
For companies, communicating sustainability is one of the wheels that keeps the entire sustainability engine turning. It helps keep goals alive and moving forward, while also delivering value in the form of trust and brand awareness. It also helps ensure that operations stay aligned with shared values and long-term vision.
